CrossFit Monterey was the first CrossFit affiliate in Monterey County, established in July of 2008. CrossFit Monterey is a gym, a competitive CrossFit and weightlifting facility, and a community. Our goal is to provide fun and effective training for all residents of Monterey County, irrespective of age or fitness level. Our vision is to create an environment in which all individuals are comfortable in their abilities, and challenged to improve them, through the best coaching and most effective exercise programming on the Central Coast.

What is CrossFit?

CrossFit is a core strength & conditioning program designed to improve general physical preparedness – in layman’s terms, overall fitness. Our specialty is not specializing. For competitive athletes, this means laying down the crucial foundation upon which to effectively further sport specific skills. But for most of our clients, the general population, it means being strong and fit to do the things you love, whether hiking, running, rock climbing, swimming, or just keeping up with the kids.

We accomplish this goal through a program based around classical strength building exercises coupled with high intensity conditioning workouts. Each class consists of a group warm-up, strength and skill practice, and the prototypical CrossFit style workout. Every movement and every workout is scaled to meet your individual needs.

Philosophy

At CrossFit Monterey, movement is king. We consider ourselves to be teachers of movement, with the goal of instilling in our clients safe and strong mechanics that will help you move better not only in the gym, but in your everyday activities. All of our clients are required to attend a four week On-Ramp program designed both to introduce the core movements used in CrossFit and to allow you to acclimate to the intensity of the training. After the On-Ramp, improving mechanics continues to be the focus of our training, with experienced coaches leading clients through every session.
